Ming Bridges 喬毓明

BRIDGE TO FAME

When it comes to chartclimbing and infectious pop music, 21-year-old Ming Bridges might be Singapore’s most marketable and surprising success stories so far.

Born in Australia, raised in England and based in Singapore, multi-talented singer / songwriter / actress won hearts with her freshfaced looks, easy eloquence, relatable lyrics and charming pop songs.

Don’t be fooled – that endearing personality and model-esque frame merely add to the complete package. Little wonder she was voted Elle’s Music Act of 2012, and recently crowned the Best Local Singer and “Ming Day” the Best Album by Singapore E- Awards. REGIONAL POWER HOUSE

Ming performs with an ease and maturity beyond her years. As comfortable with a guitar as she is in front of the camera, she has been featured in more than 50 regional public performances and TV appearances, including China’s CCTV’s ‘Starry, Starry Night Concert held in Beijing in June 2012, several high-profile mall appearances in Taiwan, and Singapore’s largest New Year’s Eve Countdown party. She is recently made the featured artist of MTV sessions and one of Singapore ‘s representatives in MU:CON Korea.

 

Wu Jiahui 伍家辉

“I come from a middle class family in Penang, nothing fancy. When I was in secondary school, I joined a songwriting society while trying to learn to play the guitar. During then I was discovered by a Music publishing company and signed on as a writer,” said Jia Hui.

Jia Hui’s Singapore debut: He was asked by Funkie Monkies to come over to sing the hit song “One Half” for local filmmaker Royston Tan’s hit film “881” in August 2007. The song reached Number 2 spot on Singapore’s Yes 933 Radio Chart, and his debut 2008 album “Although I’m Willing” became a top-seller in Singapore, which was also released in Taiwan and Hong Kong as “I Crazy You”.

Kenny Khoo 邱鋒澤

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Kenny aspires to be a singer since young. After his studies, he began his musical career as a lead vocalist with his band, Kenyen. Their entertaining weekly performances garnered a huge following which secured them the coveted headlining weekend slots at Shuffle Bistro Bars on Friday nights. Their reputation as a live act led them performing in outside functions/events including a PAP awards giving ceremony in 2012.

In 2012, he auditioned and became one of the 12 participants in the Guinness Live! A singing competition which was conducted in front of live audiences in various clubs. Through this, he gained invaluable experience and exposure in the Singapore live entertainment scene.

His performances soon caught the attention of local director Chai Yee Wei which led him to be casted as one of the 4 lead roles in the Singapore music movie– “That girl in a pinafore” After realising a song that one of his favourite songs, 复制人 by Jam Hsiao was written by Singapore music veterans – Eric Ng and Xiaohan. He decided to pick up songwriting from their music school, equipping himself with the skills to evolve into a singer-songwriter.

ACCOMPLISHED STAR

Previously signed to Funkie Monkies managed by his mentors Eric and Xiaohan and has just released his first full length self composed Mandarin album “Ten Storeys” in Taiwan April 2014.

The album did really well in Taiwan in terms of Music charts and CD Sales. It was on top 3 of G-Music Chart (for CD sales) for consecutively 7 weeks, and achieved Number One on the third week, beating A-list artists who released their albums at the same period of time. They include Eason Chan, Khalil Fong, Amei. His album went on to become Number One on iRadio weekly music chart in just one month from release.

Kenny’s hard work and talent has recently earned him a few nominations in the prestigious Singapore Hit Awards, namely “Most Popular Newcomer”, “Best Newcomer” and “ Best Lyrics” Awards. He had been awarded “Media Recommendation Award”.

 

Serene Koong 龚芝怡

Serene Koong is an Singer Songwriter who’s turned a part-time singing stint into a music career. Previously signed to Funkie Monkies (FM) to in 2010, her debut album titled 55:38:7 was released, comprising of 10 original compositions. She won 2 awards and 4 nominations at the Singapore Hit Awards 2010, and Best Local Singer at the 5th Freshmusic Awards in 2011. Three songs from her debut album went topped the music charts across Singapore and Malaysia, and regionally – namely «明知我爱你»«恋爱女生都是羊» and «手中线» for local film “Love Cuts” starring celebrity actress Zoe Tay.
